It’s Week 2 of the College Football season, and anticipation is high for another thrilling weekend packed with upsets, blowouts, and nail-biting finishes.

In Week 1, #1 Georgia showcased their dominance with a commanding performance, while teams like Alabama and USC also turned heads with impressive showings.

With only 11 games on the schedule for each team, every play is crucial. Let’s dive into the most anticipated college football matchups of the weekend and see which teams have the potential to make headlines.

2024 Week 2 College Football

#3 Texas (-300) at #10 Michigan (+250)

It’s always a huge game when two top-10 teams do battle. This Saturday features Texas (#3) heading out of the conference to face Michigan (#10).

Quinn Ewers, the Longhorn’s QB, got off to a solid start last week with 260 yards passing and 3 TD as the ‘Horns stomped Colorado State 52-0. Arch Manning, of the legendary QB factory known as the Manning family, also threw for his first career TD as Ewers’ backup.

But Ewers is in for a much tougher challenge against what many consider the best college defense in the country. College football odds for top-ranked teams also get tougher when stepping into Michigan Stadium. The Big House packs in 109,000 rabid fans for every Wolverines home game.

The Wolverines also got off to a winning start in Week 1, beating Fresno State 30-10. But their new QB David Warren, averaged less than 5 yards per attempt.

There are over 50 types of bets available for Texas vs Michigan, including the Over/Under of 42.5. The Under might be worth a look when you factor in the strength of the Michigan D and the relative weakness of their QB.

Colorado (+230) at Nebraska (-280)

In contrast to Texas vs. Michigan, neither the Colorado Buffaloes nor the Nebraska Cornhuskers are currently in the college football Top 25.

But this matchup is all about the quarterbacks.

The Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders will likely be a top pick in next year’s NFL Draft, while Nebraska’s QB Dylan Raiola is one of the top-ranked freshmen in the country.

Sanders took Colorado to a 31-26 win in their season opener, throwing for 445 yards and 4 TDs. His top target, WR Travis Hunter, is also a top pro prospect, and combined they can do all kinds of damage to a team’s secondary.
In his college football debut last week, Raiola led Nebraska to a 40-7 win, with 238 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also doesn’t look like a rookie – Raiola rocks the same jersey number and sidearm delivery of Patrick Mahomes.

With these two gunslingers, the O/U is among the highest in our college football odds this week at 59. Check out all the bets for what should be an entertaining Colorado vs Nebraska matchup, including a custom prop builder.

Iowa State (+150) at #21 Iowa (-175)

Few rivalries can match the battles between cross-state rivals.

Iowa is perennially the more dominant school of course, and they’re 8-1 in their last 9 games against the Iowa State Cyclones.

This year’s game might follow that winning pattern for the Hawkeyes, after a dominant win in week 1. Their 40-0 blowout of Illinois State was notable because they struggled in the first half before scoring 34 points in the second half. All without their head coach, who will be back this weekend.

Last year’s game between the two teams – a close 20-13 win for the Hawkeyes – might have influenced this weekend’s game though, where the 21st-ranked Hawkeyes are only favored by 3.5.

More than 50 bets are ready at Bovada for the Iowa State vs. Iowa game, including a range of Score Props. If you think the Hawkeyes need time to warm up like last week, have a look at the highest-scoring half (+105).

Appalachian State (+575) at #25 Clemson (-900)

What makes this game so fun with the college football odds for this one being so wide apart?

Well, a week ago, the Clemson Tigers were ranked 14th nationally. However, after a 34-3 defeat to Georgia, they dropped 11 spots and are at risk of falling out of the top 25 unless they turn things around quickly.

Tigers’ head coach Dabo Swinney and QB Cade Klubnik are under fire too – Klubnik only managed 142 yards against the Bulldogs.

While an outright win might be against all odds, don’t sleep on the Mountaineers. In each of the past three seasons, they’ve beaten at least one top-25 team.

All the bets for Clemson vs. Appalachian State are ready to play, and fans might like the 17-point spread in favor of Clemson.

The Tigers will be playing their home opener and will have extra motivation to put in a big performance. Two losses in any college football season often means the end for any school’s national championship hopes.

#14 Tennessee (-370) at #24 North Carolina State (-285)

In another great QB battle, the Tennessee Volunteers face the NC State Wolfpack.

With plenty of offense on display in Week 1 – especially from the Vols – sports betting fans can choose from lots of great bets at Bovada for this matchup.

Tennessee freshman Nico Iamaleava rocked the college football world by leading his team to a 69-point performance in his debut last weekend. The Vols had over 700 yards in offense, a total that some teams need two full games to achieve.

NC State picked up transfer QB Grayson McCall in the offseason, and he paid dividends right away by going 26-40 with 3 TDs and 38 points in the Wolfpack’s opening-week win.

It’s McCall’s final season and Iamaleava’s first. With two QBs having lots to prove (leaving a legacy in Grayson’s case and starting one when it comes to Iamaleava), college football betting fans might be tempted to go even higher than the O/U of 61.5.
