Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz

Jake Paul will look to bounce back from his defeat to Tommy Fury when he takes on UFC legend Nate Diaz in Dallas, Texas on August 5th.

‘The Problem Child’ suffered his first career defeat by way of split decision against Tyson Fury’s brother in February but is confident he will return to winning ways.

So confident in fact, Paul was quick to turn to Twitter in usual explosive fashion with a message for Diaz. Now, I love the trash talk hype before a fight, but even this is a bit dark for me – “August 5th we commemorate the funeral for Nathaniel Diaz as we send him in a casket back to Dana. Refreshments will be provided at the service. Black Tie Attire.”

Everyone has got an opinion on the huge upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz, and it appears boxing and UFC experts alike agree with Paul’s prediction.

On his Believe You Me Podcast, former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping dished up his take on how he sees the fight playing out – “Jake’s the bigger, more explosive guy and that’s why he’s picked this fight, you know what I mean, I hope I eat my words of course I do but it’s a very, very smart match-up. It’s a very smart pick.”

Highlighting Jake Paul is the younger, bigger, and more powerful man combined with Diaz fighting so far out of his weight class, indicates there is a huge advantage for the YouTuber-turned-boxer. The former UFC champ added that he can see the fight going longer than Matchroom boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn has predicted. Earlier this week on The MMA Hour, Hearn hailed the fight a mis-match – “I watched clips of Nate Diaz hit pads and I was shocked, you know that it’s going to be a mismatch against Jake Paul. I love Nate Diaz, I love him but it won’t go four rounds unless it’s all a bit of a bluff from Nate, with what I saw. When you see people hit pads like that, you just know, it’s a mis-match.”

And, oddsmakers are fully behind 26-year-old, Jake Paul. You cannot help but wonder whether he will become an even bigger favorite as the event draws closer. The latest Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz odds available at Bovada are:

More MMA Fighters On The Card

Nate Diaz is not the only name representing MMA on August 5th. It has been announced UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens will also lace up the boxing gloves for a fight against Chris Avila.

Stephens will make his second pro-boxing appearance after losing his debut fight in April against former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo in an eight-round bout.

37-year-old Stephens fought at high level in MMA from 2007 however struggled greatly in recent years, putting together just one victory in nine appearances since 2018. After walking away from the MMA roster in 2021, Stephens is now eagerly seeking his first victory inside the boxing ring this August.

Jeremy Stephens’ opponent Chris Avila also has experience in MMA, having fought for the UFC and Bellator in the past. He started to focus more heavily on boxing just over a year ago, appearing twice on the undercard of Jake Paul fights.
