Widely considered to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in boxing, Canelo hasn’t lost since 2013 and already owns the WBA, WBC and WBO titles. Still, the Mexican boxer may have his hands full with Caleb Plant, who’s had the IBF belt since the start of 2019 and has already won three title defenses in that time. With the winner of the fight being crowned the undisputed super middleweight champion, this is one fight night you do not want to miss. Alvarez is the clear betting favorite leading up to Saturday night, currently listed at -1000 to win the fight. Having said that, Plant’s betting odds of +600 offer plenty of value when you consider the fact the he remains unbeaten with a perfect record of 21-0-0.

With so much hype leading up to November 6, there’s a lot of betting interest surrounding this historic bout. Whether you’re betting on boxing or any other sport, it’s always important to do your research; this article will provide insights on both Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant, as well as highlight some potentially high-value betting opportunities at Bovada Sportsbook.

Canelo Preview

Regarded by most as the face of boxing, Canelo owns a 56-1-2 record and is still very much in the prime of his career. The 31-year-old fighter has a well-balanced style with good fundamentals and excellent punching power. Alvarez has been a busy champion, with this being his fifth outing over the past year. Most recently, he defeated Englishman Billy Joe Saunders by unanimous decision. Canelo controlled the fight from the opening bell and earned a TKO victory with a vicious right uppercut in round 8. Prior to that, Canelo beat Avni Yıldırım in impressive fashion, earning a TKO victory in round 3. Alvarez’s only loss came at the hands of all-time great Floyd Mayweather back in 2013, so you can understand why Canelo is a massive betting favorite leading up to this fight.

Plant Preview

While he may not be a household name like his opponent, Plant has been the reigning IBF champion for nearly two years now. The American-born boxer nicknamed ‘Sweethands’ has an undefeated record of 21-0-0 leading up this fight and you can be sure he plans to keep it that way versus Canelo. Plant was listed as the second-best active super middleweight by ESPN and has earned 12 of his 21 victories by way of knockout. He’s a nimble fighter blessed with quick feet and excellent footwork, which allows him to move around the ring to his advantage throughout his fights. Plant’s previous fight came back in January 2021, as he defended his title with a unanimous decision over Caleb Truax. Prior to that bout, Plant earned TKO victories over Vincent Feigenbutz and Mike Lee in the 10th and 3rd round, respectively. Those wins may have been impressive but things are going to be a lot tougher when Plant faces Alvarez in Las Vegas.

Betting Preview

There’s no shortage of storylines leading up to this major fight with two of the best boxers in the world set to square off at the MGM Grand on November 6. The action started a few weeks early as things got physical between the fighters at a September press conference to promote the event. There was plenty of animosity between the two men as they stood face-to-face on stage and things escalated quickly when Canelo shoved his soon-to-be opponent. Plant tried to slap Alvarez in retaliation, only for Alvarez to dodge his attack and tag Plant on the face before the pair were separated.

As mentioned earlier, Canelo is the heavy betting favorite leading up to the fight. There is no denying his greatness, but sadly there isn’t much value to be had with his current betting odds listed at -1000 at Bovada Sportsbook. Betting against Canelo has not been a great strategy over recent years, but Plant does offer some decent value with his current odds at +600. He would need the best performance of his career to get the job done, but his speed and elusive nature give him a chance versus the hard-hitting Canelo. Another unique betting option is to wager on the method of victory. With this bet type, you have to predict which fighter wins, as well as how they win. This type of bet will give you better odds since it’s a bit more difficult, making it a solid strategy if you want a better price on Canelo. Regardless of who you bet on or how much money you win; this should be one fight that you won’t forget anytime soon!
