NFL Week 1 proved once again that the league is unmatched in its ability to showcase competitive play from the best team to the worst – well, unless you’re the Miami Dolphins. And looking at NFL Week 2 odds, the competitive matchups aren’t going to let up until Super Bowl Sunday.

Bovada has Week 2 point spreads, moneylines, totals, and props on all 16 games in action. And to ensure you focus on the best matchups, we’ve outlined the best bets for Week 2.

Thursday Night Football

Washington Commanders (1-0) at Green Bay Packers (1-0)

  • Start: September 11 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC
  • Spread: Packers -4, Commanders +4
  • Moneyline: Packers -200, Commands +170
  • Total: O/U 47.5

Will we look back on this game when the NFC Championship rolls around? The Washington Commanders proved they’re still contenders in the NFC – as long as quarterback Jayden Daniels is under center – and the Packers stood out as their defense kept high-scoring Detroit to just 13 points.

Regarding who had the most impressive win, the edge (no pun intended) goes to the Packers. Edge rusher Micah Parsons proved the Cowboys were foolish for trading him to Green Bay, becoming a disruptive force with hardly any practice. He is one of the few players who might be able to contain the elite scrambling ability of Daniels Thursday night.

That said, playing on a short week is not easy for the home favorite. Since 2019, TNF home teams have an ATS record of 18-29-1, and a 7-20-1 ATS record in games between Weeks 1 and 8.

The reason is that fatigue tends to set in for both teams during a short week, allowing the underdog to stay competitive in games. That’s a concern with one of the fastest quarterbacks in the league coming up.

Sunday Afternoon

Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)

  • Start: September 14 at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX
  • Spread: Eagles -1.5, Chiefs +1.5
  • Moneyline: Eagles -125, Chiefs +105
  • Total: O/U 46

The NFL serves up a Super Bowl rematch in Week 2. We know how their last meeting went down, and after the Chiefs’ loss in Week 1, it appears some of their issues still linger.

Patrick Mahomes was running for his life in the Chiefs’ loss to the L.A. Chargers. He was sacked twice, led the team in rushing, and seemingly only had Hollywood Brown as a reliable target. For those reasons, the Chiefs are home underdogs against the Eagles – a rarity in the Mahomes era.

In the last five years, there have been just three occasions when the Chiefs were homedogs:

  • Week 16, 2024 season vs. Houston – An ankle injury to Mahomes in Week 15 caused injury uncertainty against the Texans. They opened as +2.5 homedogs
  • Week 6, 2024 season vs. Buffalo – Numerous injuries on defense and to their receiving corps had the Chiefs NFL opening lines as +2.5 homedogs against the high-powered Bills.
  • Week 17, 2020 season vs. Los Angeles Chargers – A classic Week 17 rest before the playoffs begin. They opened as +6.5 ‘dogs.

Out of those three games, the Chiefs only covered in Week 16, 2024. Mahomes ultimately played despite injury concerns, and the Chiefs won 27-24.

Circling back to the matchup, it’s hard to see any offseason changes when looking at the tale of the tape. The Eagles will get after Mahomes; it’ll come down to how well he handles it.

Monday Night Football

Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) at Las Vegas Raiders (1-0)

  • Start: September 15 at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN
  • Spread: Chargers -3.5, Raiders +3.5
  • Moneyline: Chargers -180, Raiders +155
  • Total: O/U 45.5

The second game in the Monday Night doubleheader brings a matchup between two surprising AFC West contenders.
While both teams displayed great offense led by star QB performances, it was the defense that overachieved. The Chargers held the Chiefs to just 21 points, sacking Mahomes twice, hitting him eight times, and forcing two fumbles.

Meanwhile, the Raiders spoiled the New England Patriots’ home opener by finishing with four sacks, an interception, and holding them to just 13 points.

Oddsmakers see the Chargers’ performance as more convincing, opening the Raiders as 3.5-point underdogs on their own field. But beware of the competitive fire that often ignites in divisional matchups. The Raiders are 2–2 against the Chargers since 2023, with both wins coming as home underdogs. The last three games also stayed under the total.
