Game Recap
In what turned out to be a comfortable home win, the Bears came out with confidence and never trailed on Sunday. After falling behind in the season opener, Chicago has now won three of its last four, with the offense producing 112 points over the season’s first month. The Jets, who came in reeling after losing three of four, struggled to sustain drives and could not find the end zone on a day where the Bears’ defense allowed just 740 passing yards and 410 rushing yards on the year. The 23-12 final at Soldier Field extends Chicago’s momentum and leaves New York searching for answers as the schedule gets tougher.
Offense vs Defense
Chicago’s ground game has been the story of their season, averaging 4.9 yards per carry with 785 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns through four weeks. That ground-and-pound approach opened up play-action and kept the Jets’ pass rush from getting home. New York, meanwhile, has been held to 336 rushing yards at 3.4 yards per carry and has thrown just 5 touchdown passes with zero interceptions, but the lack of balance has made it hard to put points on the board. The Bears’ defense stood tall when it mattered, holding opponents to a 58.6 percent completion rate and keeping the Jets out of the end zone on multiple red-zone trips.
Head-to-Head
This was the first meeting between these two sides in the regular season since the 2022 campaign, and Chicago made it count. The Bears took control early and never looked back, giving them a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head series with the Jets. Byron Pringle’s touchdown in the first half set the tone, and the defense held New York to just three field goals. The two teams will not meet again this regular season, so this result stands as the defining matchup between them for now.
