In just three weeks, the College Football Playoff (CFP) landscape shifted from preseason predictions.

Clemson and Texas opened in the AP Top 4. Now, Clemson is not even in the Top 25 after a massive 24-21 upset at the hands of Georgia Tech. Texas is holding on at No. 12, but nobody expects much from Texas anymore with the struggles of preseason Heisman favorite Arch Manning.

Where does that leave us: More parity on Saturdays. We’re living in a time when any given week could see a top school fall.
With that in mind, here are the biggest matchups this coming weekend along with their NCAAF Week 4 odds.

Main Event Matchups

Saturday, September 20

No. 17 Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-0) at No. 16 Utah Utes (3-0)

  • Odds: Utah -3
  • Total: 57.5
  • Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • Channel: FOX

It doesn’t get more evenly matched and more explosive than this. No. 17 Texas Tech enters Rice-Eccles Stadium to face the No. 16 Utah Utes, a squad with a tough defense (8.3 points against) and a quarterback in Devon Dampier who can beat you on the ground (198 rushing yards) and air (628 passing yards).

Texas Tech, meanwhile, has averaged an NCAA-leading 66 points per game through three weeks, while ranking second in passing yards with 383.7 yards per game. Oddsmakers recognize that this contest could be close and feature game-changing highlights. The Utes open as 3-point favorites at home, with the total being one of the highest of the week at 57.5.

No. 22 Auburn Tigers (3-0) at No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0)

  • Odds: Oklahoma -6.5
  • Total: 48.5
  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Channel: ABC

QB John Mateer has already pushed himself to the head of Heisman conversations; now his Sooners can start poking the CFP committee if they’re able to dominate one of the jewels of the SEC, Auburn.

Oklahoma open as -6.5 favorites due to their homefield advantage and strong defensive performance against Michigan in Week 2. Auburn has an efficient passing attack behind QB Jackson Arnold – he hasn’t thrown an interception in three games – but he’s not on the level of Mateer. Auburn needs running back Jeremiah Cobb to break off explosive runs while their defense tries to slow down the Sooners.

No. 21 Michigan Wolverines (2-1) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0)

  • Odds: Michigan -2.5
  • Total: 46
  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Channel: CBS

The Wolverines will go as far as freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood takes them in 2025. After struggling with just 142 passing yards and -1 rushing yards in a loss against Oklahoma, he rebounded with 349 total yards and two touchdowns in a 63-3 win vs. Central Michigan. His next big test is an undefeated Nebraska squad that has held opponents to just eight points per game.
With Michigan on the road and facing a raucous crowd at Memorial Stadium, oddsmakers have made them slight road favorites.

Florida Gators (1-2) at No. 4 Miami Hurricanes (3-0)

  • Odds: Miami -7.5
  • Total: 52
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Channel: ABC

The Hurricanes have managed to climb into the College Football Playoffs after steady and dominant wins in the first three weeks of the season. Now they get their second in-state rival in as many weeks in Florida, a squad that had all their AP hopes dashed by the South Florida Bulls in Week 2.

Florida showed fight in Week 3 against the No. 3 LSU Tigers, holding the talented SEC squad to just 20 points. But the gritty defensive performance was overshadowed by the disastrous play of QB DJ Lagway. The sophomore threw a whopping five interceptions, handing LSU easy points in a defensive contest.

While Miami’s defense won’t be as stifling, their offense should be better. Senior QB Carson Back proved his high-profile transfer from Georgia was worth every penny, catapulting himself to No. 2 in 2025 Heisman Trophy Winners odds.

No. 9 Illinois Fighting Illini (3-0) at No. 19 Indiana Hoosiers (3-0)

  • Odds: Indiana -4
  • Total: 52.5
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Channel: NBC

Illinois may be the least talked-about AP Top 10 school in football. They have a chance to move into CFP contention with a dominant performance at Indiana. However, oddsmakers aren’t so confident the No. 9 squad can pull it off. They’ve made them underdogs against an Indiana team that has quietly been dominant as well, ranking third in rushing with 307.7 yards per game.
Bottom line, these two are being ignored because they haven’t played anyone. It’s also challenging to assess their true strengths or weaknesses without strong opposition. Many questions should be answered after Saturday.
