Main Card Predictions and Breakdown

Kai Asakura (-300) vs. Tim Elliott (+250)

Ranked #15, Japanese superstar Kai Asakura returns following a Round 2 title fight loss to Alexandre Pantoja. He faces Tim Elliott, who makes his comeback after a 1-year and 8-month layoff. Elliott’s last fight was a strong performance and a victory over Su Mudaerji, earning him a 50k bonus.

This is an important fight for the division. Asakura is out to silence the fraud check claims following his title loss, while Elliott, an aging veteran, likely has one last run to the top.

Asakura carries the striking edge with more knockouts on his record. Elliott, on the other hand, is a grappler with solid control and takedown ability. He may look to turn this into a ground battle.

Prediction: Kai Asakura via TKO (+180)

Michael “Venom” Page (-195) vs. Jared Cannonier (+165)

This middleweight fight puts Jared Cannonier’s controlled power and pressure against MVP’s unpredictable striking.

At 41, this is a must-win for Cannonier if he hopes to stay in the title picture. For MVP, a win over a top contender like Cannonier would push his standing in the UFC’s middleweight division. Given his popularity, the UFC would love to see him rise quickly.

Prediction: Jared Cannonier via gritty decision. He’ll avoid striking exchanges with MVP and grind out a win. (+295)

Carlos Prates (-250) vs. Geoff Neal (+210)

Originally scheduled for UFC 314 on April 12, 2025, this matchup was scrapped due to a Neal injury. Prates did not receive a replacement opponent at that time.

Both fighters are known for their knockout power and striking. Expect a high paced stand-up battle and potentially a Fight of the Night contender.

Geoff Neal needs this win to show he belongs in the welterweight rankings after recent missed opportunities. Prates, coming off a loss to Ian Garry, must prove he is a title contender.

Prediction: Carlos Prates via TKO/KO by mainly counter striking and distance control. (+115)

Co-Main Event: Aaron Pico (-175) vs. Lerone Murphy (+150)

Originally, Aaron Pico was set to face Movsar Evloev, who withdrew due to injury. Instead, undefeated Lerone Murphy steps in for a high stakes FW fight.

Murphy has the reach advantage and arguably cleaner striking, allowing him to control distance and tempo. However, Pico has great wrestling and takedowns, which could disrupt Murphy’s plans.

Prediction: Lerone Murphy via decision, using volume striking and octagon control. (+270)

Main Event: Dricus Du Plessis (+190) vs. Khamzat Chimaev (-230)

The most anticipated fight of the month and probably the year. Dricus Du Plessis is defending his middleweight title against the undefeated beast Khamzat Chimaev.

The bout is hyped heavily on social media, and fans are in limbo regarding the outcome of this fight. Du Plessis is often mocked for his weird and awkward style, but it always seems to work. Chimaev is a scary wrestler with explosive aggression and top control, capable of finishing fights early. Which could be his downfall as he seems to slow down in the later rounds.

DDP’s championship level cardio and ability to thrive in later rounds make this an interesting fight.

Prediction: DDP via decision, using his weird style with grit and five-round experience to retain his title. (+600)
