KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Heading into the AFC Conference Championship game, oddsmakers didn’t give the Kansas City Chiefs much credit for their last 5 years of football dominance. For good reason too.

KC had an up and down regular season at 11-6, dropping too many balls and giving up too many W’s with losses to teams like Denver and Las Vegas.

Key Players

Enter Patrick Mahomes. The most money QB since Tom Brady and already among the game’s all-time greats. His performance against Baltimore made everyone pay attention and he’s the main reason 49ers are only favored by a single point currently.

He willed the Chiefs to victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Conference Championships weekend, starting off the game with 11 straight completions and taking the ravenous Ravens fans out of the game early.

What else can be said about Mahomes? Plenty.

In his past six postseason games heading into Super Bowl LVIII, he’s got a 70% completion rate, with 11 TDs and zero INTs. It’s his 4th Super Bowl appearance. For bettors who like their Super Bowl LVIII odds with a side of veteran experience, consider those numbers versus the fact that it’s Brock Purdy’s first appearance in the title game.

We can’t talk about Mahomes without his ride-or-die, tight end Travis Kelce. The slightly aging boyfriend of Taylor Swift turned back the clock with a massive performance against Baltimore, with 11 catches for 116 yards and enough in-your-face attitude to seriously rattle the Ravens’ D.

Another player to watch when considering your Super Bowl LVIII odds is KC’s Isiah Pacheco, the feisty running back who can explode for big runs at any moment. He had 76 yards rushing and a TD in last year’s Super Bowl win over the Eagles and has put up 186 yards over 3 games on this current playoff run.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs put together a masterful game plan against Baltimore, holding the high-octane Ravens offense to 10 points and messing with QB Lamar Jackson’s head from the opening snap. As you scan the Super Bowl LVIII odds, keep an eye out for their D possibly being able to do the same against the inexperienced Purdy.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The San Francisco 49ers head into Super Bowl LVIII with way more firepower than KC.

They used their weapons to full effect in the regular season on their way to a 12-5 record. Those 12 W’s included three games where they put up more than 40 points and another seven games with 30 or more.

Key Players

Running back Christian McCaffrey leads the list of nine Niners players selected to the Pro Bowl. He’s been a force all season, leading the league in rushing and total yards from scrimmage. He picked up two TDs in San Fran’s win over the Lions in the NFC Conference Championship game and is a serious threat anytime he touches the ball, which happens often.

Deebo Samuel, the wide receiver/running back/machine who can explode into the defensive backfield for a big play at any time, is another weapon. Samuel entered the Detroit game with a banged-up shoulder, but he still managed 8 catches for 89 yards. He’ll benefit from two weeks’ rest heading into Super Bowl 58 too.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and tight end George Kittle will add even more to the Chiefs’ defensive headaches.

Aiyuk racked up 68 yards, 1 TD, and that catch off the Lions’ DB’s helmet that set up the 49ers turnaround last week. With 1300+ yards during the regular season, he’s the deep threat that takes the top off a defense and lets players like Kittle cook underneath.

As for Purdy, he was the very last player picked a couple years ago in the NFL draft, but he’s made himself the man in San Fran since he stepped on the field in 2022. While he made some solid throws in the 49ers’ Conference Championship win, it was his back-breaking scrambles that really did the damage. As if KC needed more weapons to worry about.

SUPER BOWL LVIII ODDS

There’s plenty of fun to be had with close to two weeks of betting before kickoff!

With the game a near pick’em at -1.0 for San Francisco, an even moneyline wager for KC, and a fairly standard 47 OU, it’s the props that will get everyone excited to make their Super Bowl bets

Under Super Bowl Specials on the Bovada site, it’s like Christmas for bettors, whether you’re a seasoned vet or a casual player.

If you’re inclined to go with the Niners, Christian McCaffrey at +475 for the Super Bowl MVP might be the place to start. The KC rush defense ranked a very average 17th in the league this year, and CMC is a very above-average running back.

The Chiefs are well aware of this, of course. This could mean they’ll load up their front 8, leaving Aiyuk in man coverage for deep throws. There are a whole range of yardage OU bets to choose from at Bovada, including an enticing +200 if he racks up more than 83.5 yards.

If the Chiefs are your pick, and you want to have some action on Kelce, listen up. The Niners no doubt saw the monster game Kelce just had, and if they play close attention to him, he might be in for a tough day with double coverage. The Under for him at 52.5 yards receiving is +205 and could be worth a shot.

With 32 prop bets at the quarterback position, over 80 of them for wide receivers and 37 for rushers, you’ll find every bet you need with us.

You can bet on those QB passing props, but after last weekend maybe it’s Purdy’s running that is also worth a wager. He had 48 yards on the ground against the Lions, and for Super Bowl 58 he’s a tempting +450 to go over just 25.5 yards.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the Super Bowl without some of the classic non-football prop bets that we’ve come to love.

Think Reba McIntyre will run shorter or longer than 1 minute, 26 seconds as she sings the anthem? You’ll get even odds if you take the under, and -130 if she carries a few extra notes.

Then there’s the Gatorade shower. You or your party guests don’t need to know your X’s and O’s to get in on this one. Lime/Green/Yellow is the safest bet at +150 and the odds go up from there.
