It was an amazing NCAA Men’s Sweet Sixteen. Clemson’s betting odds-busting run came to an end at the hands of an Alabama team that’s making its first final four appearance in its school’s history. NC State kept on the gas pedal and stunned Duke. Two monsters remain, the UConn Huskies and the surging Purdue Boilermakers.
Let’s take a look at each one as we inch closer to the final four showdown:
UConn Huskies
The defending champions remain the odds-on favorite and the favorite by almost every analyst in sports media. They look as perfect as a team can be and show no signs of loss of focus. The margin of victories has served as a warning to every opponent that UConn is THEM. They’re favored by a large margin to win versus Alabama. They’re the safe bet but with that comes small returns. Unless Alabama has a bit of luck, it’ll be a tough task to keep up with the Huskies. They can open up a lead at any given time and cause the score to simply be out of reach.

Alabama Crimson Tide
The history-making Crimson Tide are looking to continue their run but they now face the biggest, ‘baddest’ team in the tournament for the final four. They do have a few things going to them. Mark Sears is consistent from beyond the arc and Nick Pringle’s 16 pt 11 board performance versus Clemson should bolster his confidence. Alabama has been an excellent three-point shooting team that has gotten contributions from several players when it counts. They’ll need everything going for them if they want to punch their ticket to the championship game.
Purdue Boilermakers
The Purdue Boilermakers seem to have exorcized their tournament demons. Zach Edey has been making himself known to the nation as a force in the paint. He’s, by all accounts, the best big man in years. They’re heavy favorites to win against NC State by double digits. Even with all the additional attention, Edey has risen to the task and performed at the highest level. This Purdue team, of course, is much more than just Zach Edey; however, he is the engine that drives their train, especially for the final four.
NC State Wolfpack
NC State once again is the underdog that could. They’re playing like it’s 1983 with Jimmy V running the helm. They’re a large betting underdog, and that seems just fine with them. They play their hearts out every game and are setting their sights on Purdue and their monster big man Zach Edey. Analytics simply do not apply here. They finished 10th in the ACC regular season yet they are 1 win away from playing for a national title. Backing the Wolfpack to take down number 1 seed Purdue could be an attractive return on your bet. The odds say it’s improbable, but this team wears “improbable” on their uniforms. Of the two underdogs, NC State may be the most attractive one to pick.
