- Chappell Roan: -225
- Sabrina Carpenter: +200
- Shaboozey: +650
- Teddy Swims: +650
- Benson Boone: +1200
Chappell Roan: -225
Chappell Roan roared throughout the year with her entrancing but powerful vocals that are reminiscent of pop icons such as Lady Gaga & Kate Bush. Released in the first half of 2024“Good Luck, Babe!” is a mesmerizing pop song that is universally touching into the inner most-human emotions. What’s baffling is that this feat is achieved without an accompanying music video, which few people get to do. After opening for Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘GUTS’ world tour Roan’s music began to be exposed to the masses and she began her festival campaigns throughout Coachella & Lollapalooza she showcased her inner “IT” factor which quickly moved from a cult fanbase to global virality. As a result, her 2023 Dan Nigro produced debut album, ‘The Rise andFall of a Midwest’ became recognized for her retro, joyous sound that celebrates femininity & queerness.
Sabrina Carpenter: +200
The Disney princess has been an underdog player in the music industry for many years, but all the work has paid off with the massive success of “Espresso.” First announced as a treat to fans ahead of her eagerly awaited Coachella performance, “Espresso” skyrocketed into the Billboard charts and became viral all over TikTok. The summer anthem track features a groovy production alongside some clever lyricism home to Carpenter’s artistic style evident with her all-tell confessional album, ‘emails i can’t send.’ To top it all off Carpenter released her new album, ‘Short n’ Sweet’ which is a recollection of pop gems featuring production from Jack Antonoff which carried her hype throughout the year with earworm tunes such as “Please Please Please” & “Bed Chem” along others.
Shaboozey: +650
With the big & revolutionizing impact country music has had last year, Shaboozey was one of the fore fronting pioneers of this change. This is all thanks to Beyoncé’s country-bending album, ‘COWBOY CARTER,’ in which Shaboozey scored two features on. In effect, this catapulted the cowboy artist into buzzing success with his record-breaking single, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” which made him the second Black artist in history to have a song hit #1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs chart. With accolades like this, Shaboozey has a rightful place to win Best New Artist this year.
Teddy Swims: +650
Georgia native Teddy Swims is an enigmatic singer who’s able to mesh genres such as R&B, country, and pop with his raspy and soulful resembling voice of icons such as Stevie Wonder &Sam Smith. His standout hit, “Lose Control” also landed him atop the Billboard Hot 100 and has amassed collaborations with MGK, Quavo & Georgia Bryant among others.
Benson Boone: +1200
The riveting singer Benson Boone has had an amazing year with the release of his debut album, ‘Fireworks & Rollerblades’ which is a concoction of emotionally charged and vulnerable songs fitting for his pipes. With the project Boone managed to get a Billboard Top 10 hit with “Beautiful Things” which also became the most streamed song globally in 2024. If this doesn’t give him the props deserved, the singer opened for the historic ‘The Eras Tour’ in London & was shouted out by Taylor Swift herself.
