The NFL continues to be a rollercoaster ride as major players have already been traded, contenders have become pretenders, and a head coach has already been fired – Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan.
Week 7 brings matchups that could once again shift momentum. See below for NFL odds on divisional matchups, MVP battles, and a clash between young-up-and-coming QBs.
Thursday Night Football
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals
- Start: October 16 at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video
- Spread: Steelers -5.5
- Moneyline: Steelers -270, Bengals +220
- Total: 42.5
All is well in Steeler-land. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been steady and efficient, while the defense has shown real progress after allowing 30-plus points in Week 1. Pittsburgh now ranks 14th in points scored, 15th in points allowed, and has covered three straight against the spread (ATS). They’re balanced enough to contend for the AFC North title, especially with Cleveland, Baltimore, and Cincinnati all dealing with major quarterback issues.
Their Week 7 divisional opponent, the Bengals, showed some life in a 27–18 loss to Green Bay as 14-point underdogs – their first cover since Week 2. Cincinnati traded for Browns veteran Joe Flacco on Tuesday and started him on Sunday. Though he struggled early, Flacco led the offense to 18 points in the second half — a step forward after Jake Browning’s turnover-heavy performances while filling in for Joe Burrow.
Sunday Afternoon Football
Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Chargers
- Start: October 19 at 4:05 p.m. on CBS
- Spread: Chargers -1
- Moneyline: Chargers -115, -Colts 105
- Total: 48.5
The NFL has truly unleashed parity this year. The Colts have a 13-point margin of victory after six weeks, but last week they only beat Arizona, QB’d by backup Jacoby Brissett, by five. Meanwhile, the Chargers have been in nothing but nailbiters, with their margin of victory at 0.3 points, and they are coming off a two-point win over Miami.
For that reason, it’s no surprise the spread has the Chargers as one-point favorites at home. The flip-a-coin spread highlights how fine the line is between the two squads, despite the Colts ranking first in points and fourth in points against.
New York Giants at Denver Broncos
- Start: October 19 at 4:05 p.m. on CBS
- Spread: Broncos -7
- Moneyline: Broncos -350, Giants +275
- Total: 40
The Giants put on a show on Thursday Night Football, throttling the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles 34-17 with tough running, wild scramble plays, and timely defense.
While New York fans may be craving more of the same at Denver, the total sitting at 40 tells the story. The Broncos rank second in points allowed (15.8) and continue to win with defense. In Week 5, they held off the Eagles 21-17, then followed that with a gritty 13-11 victory over the Jets in London. Their defense has consistently kept games close, giving the offense just enough time to find its rhythm.
The Giants still have two rookies leading their offense in QB Jaxson Dart and running back Cameron Skattebo. They were able to run over a tired Eagles D, but had five turnovers when they faced an underrated New Orleans front in Week 5.
Sunday Night Football
Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco 49ers
- Start: October 20 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC
- Spread: N/A
- Moneyline: N/A
- Total: N/A
The Atlanta Falcons are riding high after a 24-14 upset win over the Buffalo Bills as +3.5 home underdogs on Monday Night Football. They toppled the reigning AFC powerhouse by intercepting MVP Josh Allen twice and sacking him four times, while their stars shined on offense — Drake London hauled in 10 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown, and Bijan Robinson powered the ground game with 19 carries for 170 yards and a score. It was a statement performance from a young Atlanta team loaded with first-round talent.
Now they face an injured but always dangerous 49ers squad on a short week. San Fran has gone 3-3 ATS this year, with four of six games going over the total.
Monday Night Football
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions
- Start: October 21 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN
- Spread: Lions -4.5
- Moneyline: -235
- Total: 52.5
QB Baker Mayfield has a chance to catapult his +325 MVP odds even higher when he faces the 4-2 Detroit Lions. The Lions are desperate to rebound after losing 30-17 to another MVP candidate, QB Patrick Mahomes, last weekend. The Lions’ pass defense has been underwhelming, allowing an 18th-ranked 23.7 points per game.
The Bucs, meanwhile, have been great on offense, scoring 30-plus in two straight games, going 4-2 ATS, and having four straight games go over the total.
